The Carpool Is Up and Running

I started carpooling yesterday. It's a very small carpool effort, but every bit helps - both the environment and the pocketbook.

Our Collection and Recycling Center Coordinator, Tom, comes from Columbia NE and passes the Forest Acres exit every day. So we've designated Thursdays as carpool day, where we'll meet at the Wal-Mart and alternate driving to the landfill. Since Tom and I are both out and about a lot, usually in our own cars, it's hard to find a day where one of us doesn't need our car, but on Thursday, we both come in early for a landfill meeting, so we're making it work.

It was GREAT having someone to chat with on the way in and back home; both trips seemed much quicker than the usual 30-minute trek. We even talked shop and got a head start on the day.

That's awesome! Several of my co-workers live near me and we carpool sometimes, too. It's so nice to start the day laughing and having interesting conversation, and one of us always brings breakfast treats. Good for the environment and good for your psyche!

I could TOTALLY carpool...I think my Tahoe could fit at least 36 people. Forget the CMRTA...I'M the new bus system!

Does Honda make the Tahoe?
