This afternoon, we took a nature hike with Rudy Mancke, who used to host NatureScene on SCETV. We met at Riverfront Park in Cayce and went on a two hour walk. We only walked a mile, but stopped a lot to look at trees and creatures.

It was QUITE cool - thanks, Sister, for finding out about this and registering us!

If you don't remember him, this is Rudy Mancke. He had an inchworm in his hand and was telling us about it.

This was a tree that we liked. Cool bark. I can't remember the name, but he said that it had a relatively short life.

See the snail? I found a couple of contributions, including a cardinal feather and two millipedes mating. (I didn't get a picture of THAT!)

This is a spider commonly known as a writing spider! When I was a little girl, the boys next door telling me that if you saw your name in the web, that meant you were going to die.

Beth...

And Mary Pat.

Please, no beaver jokes. Sister and I have already made them all.

OMG, I LOVE Rudy Mancke!! Can anyone do a tour with him?? I am dying to make a beaver joke, but will refrain.
Were there any poisonous snakes?
My mother adored some Rudy Mancke. She had the opportunity to do some science classes with him....she was the science chair at Dewey Carter and totally dug stuff like nature. Ick. ha....
This tour was through the City of Cayce. Beth heard about it somehow.
No poisonous snakes. No snakes at all. I was a little disappointed!
Oh, and Rox, count me out as a full-time nature girl. The new do doesn't do well with humidity, as you can see in the picture!
