Elderly Columbia sisters have a peeping tom problem

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Two elderly sisters called us, scared because they say a man is spying on them. It's happened so much, the septuagenarian sisters say they change clothes in the hallway so the guy won't see them naked.

For many, there's enough keeping you up in the middle of the night. For sisters Dorothy and Martha, they say their problem comes tapping at their bedroom windows.

"We have a peeping tom," says Martha.

"It's real scary," says Dorothy.

"I would say he's in his early 20's or 18, 19, 20," says Martha.

And they're wondering the same thing you are.

"What do you think he, that young guy would want with two old women?" asks Dorothy.

Dorothy says her peeping tom only comes by after dark. She says she's not worried about a break-in, since she has bars on all her windows.

Nevertheless, she says the peeping tom will rattle the bars, scratch on the window, and even goes as far as shooting a laser pen light into her room.

"You can't sleep when someone's messing around your house," says Dorothy.

Despite pinning up towels over the windows, Dorothy and Martha say they don't feel comfortable getting undressed in their own bedrooms.

"We don't feel comfortable changing before we go to bed. We go in the hallway and we have four doors that we close," says Dorothy.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department says they don't have a suspect at this time.

Martha says she best look she ever got of the peeping tom, was from behind.

"And he came to my window one night and I raised the window," says Martha. "But he turned around before I could see his face, and he walked away unconcerned, just real slow. I told him if I'd have a stick, I'd put it where the sun didn't shine, but I didn't have one."
