Tony and I were adamant about this issue when we talked about rings, and I wish more products came with this kind of verification. My diamond is conflict free, and a portion of the purchase went to an organization to help war-torn areas in Africa. Another good website: http://www.conflictfreediamonds.org

What is a conflict free diamond and how much more is it worth?

This is a pretty good example how one Hollywood movie turns into gospel that affects consumer choices. How about Hate-Free gasoline not from the Middle East? The money sent to Saudi Arabia to finance and otherwise foment hate (See eg http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5igZiBbZdKa9Gvx8uwXlsIOxoBQ5wD91859CG0)

The point is that someone will spend extra to but a "Conflict Free Diamond" and then go fill up their SUV or car and finance plenty of conflict. If consistency isn't important, then so be it. But at least recognize that choices made every day foster far more conflict than a diamond purchase.
